- I just gotta add my two cents...
-
- Microsoft is revving up its considerable muscle to kludge together a
- secure (and we all know it won't be for years) MS Windows-specific
- alternative to Java which will appeal to BASIC programmers...
-
- Sun has a theoretically secure (though implementationally buggy) alternative
- for C lovers everywhere that has been embraced by Netscape and is
- "out there" already, rapidly gaining followers...
-
- Who will win? Who knows... Microsoft is damned rich and can thrust
- whatever it wants down people's throats, but Netscape is still a media
- darling no matter how much bad press it gets...
-
- One thing's for sure though... It's gonna be a really interesting
- year as these two megaliths sumo-wrestle the web... It's sort
- of like that Windows versus Linux debate that never ends...
-
- Me? I'm cheering for Java, but don't look at me, I'm an Atari
- Jaguar developer (that did everything under Linux), what the %$$% do
- I know? (Well I know what a pain in the toosh programming a networked
- 3D game in assembler, divided into 4K cache chunks is, but is that a
- marketable skill or a sign of dementia?)
-
- Next to that, Java is a piece of cake so far (but really slow)...
